Reposted from Painting Pony by Kyley - owner and trainer of the Painting Ponies. One of the things I love about the Chincoteague Ponies on our farm is their loving nature. Their sweetness and ability to snuggle with just about anyone seems to translate to all creatures great and small. The barn cats at IHF are no exception to this. Minnow in particular is "loved by all" on the farm. The cats, dogs, and everyone he comes in contact with instantly feel safe with him. It's that special quality that makes him oh-so-loveable. Is this not the cutest thing ever?

What is Mounted Games?

History Mounted Games is an equestrian sport where participants compete in teams (and sometimes as individuals) through obstacle type relay races at high speeds. The sport requires athleticism, hand/eye coordination, and a well-trained/athletic mount. This increasingly popular sport was first played in India by the British Army Soldiers. The returning military brought the games back to England where they gained popularity with the Pony Club Members. H.R.H. Prince Phillip brought the games to the Horse of the Year show in 1957 as a way for children to participate without expensive or well-bred mounts. The sport of mounted games today was developed by Norman Patrick. His goal was to make the sport available to all ages - as it was previously age-restricted by Pony Club. IHF Pony to attend Pa Horse World Expo

Re-posted from the Painting Pony Blog We’ve had this in the works for a while now, but we’re excited to officially announce that Chincoteague Minnow will be attending the PA Horse World Expo in Harrisburg, PA from Thursday, February 23 through Sunday, February 26, 2012. Last year Boomerang and Kyley attended the expo to compete in the Craig Cameron Extreme Cowboy Race, in which they finished 6th in the finals! This year they aren’t competing in the Cowboy Race though, instead we will be in the main hall at booth # 607 & 608! And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Minnow will be there too, corralled at our booth and on hand to meet his fans and paint! Kyley will be bringing many of the ponies original works of art…
